Clinical Study of Anal Abscess


Abstract
It has been widely accepted that practically all anorectal abscess originate in anal cryptitis and glandular infections.
Cellulitis leading to abscess formation is relatively common in the tissues surrounding the anal canal and lower rectum.
Parks in the last few years has again emphasized the role of the anal glands in the production of ano-rectal abscess.
Anorectal abscess are much commoner in men that in woman.
We colleted 92 cases, which had been admitted and surgically managed during last 10 years from 1970, in Seoulnational University Hospital.
The results were as follows.
(1) The sex ratio is approximately male to female ratio was 4-4: 1.
(2) Post operative complication following operatin are two patients (2.2%) were recurrence.
(3) 53.3 percent in the most high incidence from 20 years old to 39 years old in age distribution.
